Adam Ummar

Born: 1996

Hometown: Kuala Lumpur

Based in: Kuala Lumpur

Adam Ummar (b.1996) is an emerging self-taught visual artist based in Kuala Lumpur creating abstract artworks in various media. His artworks revolve around themes such as spirituality, mythology, philosophy, emotions, and mental health. His interests include fashion, design, literature, sociology, politics, and the humanities at large.

He views his creative practice as an ongoing dialogue with the humanities. Investigating the relationships between colours and form in his abstract pieces, he aims to visually deconstruct and reconstruct the world.

In 2020, he was selected as one of the participants of the National Art Gallery's Young Art Entrepreneur program. He has participated in virtual and physical exhibitions with artists from across Asia.

Adam Ummar In The Studio

There is nothing more sacred than the communion between myself, my supporting medium and my art supplies. It is a state of mind where I go to meditate, reflect, express and observe. My creative practice is one that is centred on grounding my state of mind where I act as nothing but a medium for the universe to express itself in an amalgamation of colours & forms.
