Siberian-born, Netherlands-based contemporary artist.
I started my art journey in 2016 by taking private lessons from well-known Latvian artist Ilgvars Zalans. My expanding practice is gradually moving from landscapes and still life to abstract compositions. I work with oil, mixed media and digital art to capture the brightest moments of my personal experiences. Nature is a primary inspiration, helping to bring colour and dynamism to each work.
“Inspiration is everywhere. I capture the brightest moments of my experience and transfer them as messages on canvas. Sensitive, colourful and dynamic paintings represent my ideology, yet also give viewers an opportunity to create their own.”
What inspires you?
I'm a very passionate person and easily carried away by a tune from passing by car or a shadow playing on the leaves during a hot summer day. MY IMAGINATION CAN BE WILD AND SOOTHING AT THE SAME TIME, BUT ALWAYS GIVES ME SPACE FOR CREATIVITY.
Describe your creative process.
Observation and deeper feeling of a space around me gives me wings to be creative and honest with a canvas in front of me.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
Sensitive. Bright. Dynamic.
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
Ilgvars Zalans, Paul Gauguin, David Hockney, Wassily Kandinsky.
Where do you go for inspiration?
Spending a lot of time outdoors I am always inspired by nature. As much as I am a minimalistic person, I also appreciate little details that give an environment a bright and sensitive accent. DURING MY HIKING TRIPS I ALWAYS BRING SOMETHING WITH ME: SUCH AS PINE CONES, A SNAG, A STONE OR EVEN A SHELL.
