Bonnie Severien graduated with a BFA at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Netherlands. The former Queen Beatrix and the reigning King Willem-Alexander have selected her as a finalist five times for the prestigious Dutch Royal Award of Modern Painting. Works have been exhibited at the Royal Palace Amsterdam and the Art Museum in The Hague. She has done a number of commissions, including Imagery Estate Winery California USA and Fashion House Claudia Sträter in the Netherlands.
Severien has been awarded several Mondriaan Fund grants and participates in international exhibitions and Art Fairs such as Volta Basel Switzerland, AAF Hamburg Germany and Art Amsterdam Netherlands. Severien's work has been acquired by private collections, museums and corporate collections around the world.
What inspires you?
My artworks depict a new paradise in which a dreamed symbiosis between modernist architecture and nature arises. I create a paradise in each painting, with modernist architecture and its utopian ideas and sublime, lush nature. Together, architecture and nature become a new oasis, they merge and are reflected in each other.

Acrylic paint and tape to cut out shapes which are painted in.
