Hazel is an interior designer by day and an artist by night.
Each piece she created started off with a vague imagery of her deep thoughts, subsequently conveying to the canvas sheets. Working with acrylic and ink on canvas, her works are purely abstract, intuitive to the current moment when the paint is in her hands. In her world, inspiration comes from everywhere and not everything needs to be logical, pretty things can be inspired by silly things.

led by heart, and the aim is only to be true
What inspires you?
Any little things to the big ones. Growing up, I have learned to appreciate the smallest things in life to the biggest. Close observations of new and old, nature, people, buildings. Everything seems to have its own outline yet nothing is always so clearly defined.
Describe your creative process.
My process might seem random, that is where the fun comes from. It always started with a vague image in my head as I began a piece, translated to the most illogical sketch done, probably only I will understand. I will always allow my surrounding to kick in. Be it the song playing in the background, the scent, the heat, your emotions or any form of conversations, all formed the layers and colour in the piece to complete the imagery. Close your eyes and let a colour pop into your head! That will be the base in the piece.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
Intuitive, self-reflective, present
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
Joan Mitchell, Franz Kline, Jackson Pollock,
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
Palette knife. i love the the versatility of it.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
Keep your dreams alive in the day and your day dream at night.
Where do you go for inspiration?
The beach. its best blank canvas for me in my head.
