Hello, my name is Irina Pronina, i'm a watercolor artist. I was born and raised in Moscow, and began studying art at a young age. Following my passion for painting, i attended the prestigious Higher School of Folk Arts in St. Petersburg, where i trained to be a master silk painter. After graduating, i spent several years creating artworks on silk, however, i found that the traditional technique did not further my search for my own style. Inspired by a group of modern Russian watercolorists, I discovered my enthusiasm for the flowing medium. The possibilities of watercolor – the dynamism and beauty of the iridescence – constantly inspire new paintings. Today, i paint full-time from a home studio located on my terrace, with large windows and lots of natural light. In my free time, i enjoy painting on a textile, which i describes as a matter for the soul.
Watercolors are currently my main material for creating paintings. The possibilities of this material, the dynamism and the beauty of the overflows – this is what inspires and helps me to convey the idea of the work to the fullest. With each new painting, watercolors are revealed to me from a new side, and I am ready to discover the secrets and possibilities of this material that I have not yet explored.
