Robert Melzmuf In The Studio
I'm interested in a painterly Colorfield abstraction. I want them to be spacious, airy, and calm. So painterly, of the hand, but depicting a volume of space
which seems to be counter intuitive but I see this in the work of Rothko, Diebenkorn, and Dzubas; painters who have helped me develop my ideas of how gestures create space and enhance its rhythms and movements across the surface of the canvas.
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
Olitzky, Rothko, Diebenkorn, Kirkeby, Dzubas, Mitchell, Jensen.
