Artist statement
The artist loves mountains, since he was a kid there has always been a fascination and a primitive urge to climb them whenever he saw them off in the distance, which now seems to have been supplanted by an urge to paint them.
This vision of the iconic twin peaks of Ararat has become one of his personal favourites. He's certainly not the first to be enraptured by these ancient mountains and trying to capture them in paint, but he's applied his spin on it with principles of minimalism and colour fields to give the immediacy of sensation, in the simplest and most direct way, of seeing the mountain.
