About the art
Artist statement
Exhibited at RHB Foundation's 2023 Art With Heart charity exhibition
Nafas Baru is my first painting after a year-long break, symbolising personal growth and artistic development. It draws inspiration from spirituality and science. The background reflects the seven chakras, starting from the root chakra at the bottom and ascending to the crown chakra. The breath plays a significant role in spiritual practice, regulating energy flow through meditation and deep breathing. From a scientific perspective, the painting incorporates elements of human biology, such as alveoli, the nervous system, and the vast population of microorganisms in the body. It highlights the interconnectedness of breath, spirituality, and our physical and spiritual well-being.
