Artist statement
Alexander Trifonov’s surreal paintings combine the simplicity of Magritte, the spatial awareness of Chirico, and his own recipe of ideas. His work somehow manages to be both warm and mysterious at the same time. As Alexander says, “To be a painter for me is to create my own world. And we can only acknowledge that an artist has what it takes – everything he creates has consistency and originality of the artist. You can’t take his world for someone else’s.”
