Years ago, my father's side of the family was trying to teach me a lesson; they took advantage that I was alone with them to enlighten me on how to eat a banana when sitting at the table; Which was my first time since my mother never bought bananas when I was growing up.

I did not want to let this moment slipped by so I made it into a visual statement on how to stand on my truth even when people want to make you feel unsure.

For several days I took a different banana from the kitchen to the studio and inserted the knife and fork.
