About the art
Artist statement
The “Hidden Cities” series by Francesco D'Adamo was started in 2016 and it's still in progress. These compositions are characterized by the use of large areas of erosion and fracture, obtained with a skilful use of painting materials. The overall structure is buried and re-emerged in a continuous process of redefinition of the visible layers. The Hidden Cities becomes here a metaphor for what finds its own form and identity in the encounter and confrontation with its own historical and temporal context. D'adamo here creates paintings far from being archaeological places, but in continuous evolution.
“Each city receives its form from the desert it opposes”, Italo Calvino - “The Invisible Cities”.
