About the art
Artist statement
"Sun Rays Like Stilts"
This abstract painting, Sun Rays Like Stilts, is a triptych of mixed media on canvas. Each canvas measures 12”(H) x 12”(W). With acrylic, oil and genuine 24k gold leaf, I have attempted to capture the calmness I experienced during quiet moments with my newborn daughter. By contrasting black and white in the painting, I wanted to represent the dual worlds I lived in – the anxiety of being a new mom and the respite that was found in those peaceful times. The gold leaf symbolizes me and my heart throughout this journey as a parent.
This painting captures the beauty of a very special moment in my life and I am proud to share it with the world. With this artwork, I hope to encourage others to be brave and find their own moments of respite amidst any chaos or anxiety they may face. No matter what lies ahead, there is always an opportunity for peace and joy in our lives. Sun Rays Like Stilts has been created as a reminder of that.
