Artist statement
Seeing the masses of dying and dead olive trees in Salento affected by the Xylella fastidiosa bacteria was so sad and moving I started to build a sculptural vessel series as a tribute there. An infection of a bacteria strain called Xylella fastidiosa restricts the flow of sap within the olive tree and chokes its extremities causing the dieback of the leaves, twigs and branches. Not waterproof.
