Artist statement
ASTERISK is what I call one of my "creatures". To me a "creature" is a spirit or an essence here to protect or heal us.
I started this sculpture during the filming of "Within the Flow" a short documentary about my work, filmed by Horst Dieter Baum. In the film, you will see me starting it from a block of clay.
Asterisk is here to remind us to not take for granted our freedom because as we all know, it can be taken any moment from us.
The glaze on this sculpture is a beautiful deep green with specks of silver metal which has an intense richness of depth.
