About the art
Artist statement
This artwork consists of many individual cubes made of stainless steel.
Each cube was sawn from a 20mm shaped tube and the edges were sanded.
Manfred Hellweger welded the individual parts using a TIG welding process and then passivated them to create an oxidation-resistant surface.
The artist cast the base from fiber-reinforced and frost-resistant concrete, which makes this work ideal for outdoor use.
The specially made, brushed larch wood formwork transferred the lively wood grain into the concrete base.
Similar to the sculpture series “human flow” or “human nails”, Hellweger creates a whole from many individual parts. Each cube represents a thought, an emotion, or a feeling in a person’s life.
Dimensions of stainless steel sculpture: 80.5 x 13 x 8 cm
Total height: 181.5 cm
Total weight: 32.5 kg
