Artist statement
The work “human flow NARVI” consists of many handmade hay man from farmers in the artist’s homeland.
However, due to the technical modernization of haymaking, these are now rarely used and lead a shadowy existence.
None of these hay men are the same as the other, each is individual in size, shape and color, just like humans.
The individually assembled parts of this sculpture symbolize the three levels in a person's life: body, mind and soul. It is the interaction of these three levels that makes us who we are. They have a direct effect on and within each other and are in constant interaction. If one of these levels is neglected, it always affects the other two. These three levels make us deeply human.
Only when all three levels are in harmony, we can lead a fulfilled and happy life.
“NARVI” comes from Greek mythology and is the name of one of the 146 known moons of Saturn. (As of 2023)
The surface is brushed and the light areas are finely sanded and left natural.
The steel base is sealed with a wax to prevent oxidizing.
