'Lost Forest' ( Forêt Perdue )
Dec 2023
From the Fairy Tale Series.
'Lost Forest' is a transfer collage based on an earlier work titled 'Heritage 2'.
The Heritage series is made up of paper collages that tell the story of children and the world they will inherit.
The background images come from 'Reflets de France', Edition Raymond Schall, Paris, 1950, and the portrait photo by Bishin Jumonji is from 1980's Zoom magazine.
In this work, the dark forest envelops and hides the child who seems to be a part of his environment.
The forest in which the child is positioned, is both a source of danger and protection .
The story represent the survival of a child left with and in the wild.
Mixed media composition on 130 x 97 cm canvas.
Transfer, paper collage, pastels and oil paint.
