Artist statement
"Keep the strength in, don't let the ink run out", a calligraphy teacher once told me. This advice positively influenced my painting, breathing, and how I manage my energy in daily life. The body is our mother tongue, a language that is both universal and particular like hand-writing. Sitting on the floor with calligraphy brushes, ink and paper I paint movement by imagining/remembering what it feels like. This painting has been shown in the solo exhibition 'Pedestrians' in Brussels (2020).
