Magical Iceland

Vestrahorn, on the Stokksnes peninsula in Southeast Iceland, is one of the country’s most breathtaking mountains. Here the Aurora Borealis has been captured during a long display which had continued into the early hours of the morning. This scene is set back from the popular tourist area and this pool of water lay between the sand dunes and the beach in front. Having decided earlier that this was the place to be if we were to get an Aurora, I remained patiently at this location until the sun went down and into the night. I had doubts earlier in the night as not much was happening but patients paid off when the sky lit up with one of mother natures most spectacular displays. Taking a series of shots and making adjustments in compositions with low light proved challenging but managed to come away with a shot that represents the magic of Iceland.
