Artist statement
The Grand Canyon is a remarkable place, carved by Mother Nature over time it remains one of the seven natural wonders of the world. One has to be standing on the edge to truly experience the magnitude and scale of this place. The scenery here of this beautifully sculptured tree wasn't visible from the viewing platforms, to truly experience the Grand Canyon one must trek along the edge of the rim by foot. This requires stamina and plenty of water to maintain hydration. This tree was located away from the tourists, away from the crowds in fact only the top branches were seen from above. I had to descend into the canyon below and did so with great care and caution. I had spotted this tree from a distance away and I wasn't going to leave without photographing it.
