Artist statement
Photographed in the Mallee district of north-west Victoria, Australia. This scorched dead tree is preserved in time in a salt-crusted depression, the shallow lake is well known for its mirror like reflections and was named Lake Tyrrell. The word Tyrrell is derived from the local Wergaia word for 'sky', by the Boorong Aboriginal people of the area. The pink hues are visible in the early morning and late evening hours when the sun is low on the horizon, the silence and beauty of this place is gratification for the soul.
