Artist statement
NUCLEUS is a multi-element mirror, a sculpture and an art installation at the same time. Made of stainless inox steel using FiDU technology, it is one of the statement objects in Oskar Zięta’s oeuvre.
Although its name refers to the realm of the organic world – the cell’s structure of living organisms, its form was inspired rather by the cultural heritage. Resembling a nimbus or an aureole, it consists of eleven triangular elements composed into an ideal circle. The juxtaposition of dynamic, even aggressive geometric forms with the soft and regular shape of the circle creates a dramatic effect.
NUCLEUS can be defined as a sculpture-like mirror or a mirror-like sculpture. It creates unusual reflections thus defining the space through slight distortions.
