About the art
Artist statement
The Call IX draws on the ancient, glacial landscape of the Fforest Fawr Geopark in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales, UK, where Osprey Studios is located. The limestone karst is hollow with caves. The water may run through the passages and porous stones for centuries before reappearing. It is followed by cave wind that breathes through the land and gets called Dragon's breath here. I work outside in this beautiful, evocative and the sculptures are finished in the studio.
The Call IX stands on a black clay base which is finished with a fired bronze-like surface. Both are frost-proof. The dimensions shown include the base.
