About the art
Artist statement
"Quilt" is an abstract drawing in ink on high-quality handmade paper. It was inspired by a small bottle of ink I had in my studio. When I tested the color on paper, I loved both the color and the effect of "drawing" with the applicator. The shape is slightly different from the gestural shapes I have also been making: a tiny, repeated oval in multi-colored inks. The all-over pattern incorporates my process of repetitive, compulsive drawing with a new drawing technique on paper, one of my favorite surfaces, in a favorite color scheme of lovely pinks, purples, and blues.
