About the art
Artist statement
In this painting, I first introduced yellow to represent light. The primary source of light on our planet is the sun. The star itself is yellow, but it loses color activity as it dissipates over the planets.
Sitting at home during the pandemic, I looked at the sky outside my window for a long time trying to see the color of light. Actually, we are used to everything being black and dark blue in the dark, the entire world looks this way without light.
I thought about how the qualities of light strongly influence our perception of colors and everything around us. Sunlight brings out all the variety of colors in the world in different places of the world. At sunset, the colors of nature usually change a lot, taking on warm, bright hues, while at sunrise everything becomes a bit cooler.
This artwork is part of the series “Italy”, which deals with the emptying of cities of people during the general self-isolation and it is also a continuation of my reflections on the interaction between cities and nature.
This painting was part of the Arts & Fashion week in Moscow.
