Artist statement
This painting is part of my series Con/text. This series deals with notions of media consumption. I have used inflated toys & balloons as a metaphor for instant news and information. The bright neon colours of these inflated toys are attractive, almost seductive. Living in today’s times of communication and information, I compare having inflated toys to the feeling of instant pleasure and gratification that comes, consuming small bits and pieces of news and information.
