Your Guide to Singapore Art Week 2025!
Singapore Art Week (SAW) returns with its 13th edition from 17 to 26 January 2025!This edition will present an array of more than 100 art events by the local and international visual arts community.The ten-day celebration of art displays and installations that will once again showcase two dynamic art platforms, ART SG and S.E.A. Highlights from DESIGNART TOKYO 2024: Reframing
DESIGNART TOKYO, one of Japan’s largest design and art festivals, showcased a vibrant blend of design, art, interior design, fashion, and technology this fall. Held across multiple locations in Tokyo, a city renowned for its cultural diversity, the festival featured 117 exhibitions at 96 venues. Drawing approximately 227,000 visitors, it highlighted the dynamic intersection of creativity and innovation, cementing Tokyo's status as a global hub for artistic expression.2024 Theme: Reframing–the Beginning of a ShiftThe key visual for DESIGNART TOKYO 2024, inspired by this year’s theme “Reframing–the Beginning of a Shift,” is by the remarkable still-life photographer Masaki Ogawa, whose work appears in a variety of media and advertising.'Reframing' highlights the importance of continuous experimentation and craftsmanship, as creators strive to shape new, inspiring works that could redefine social progress and everyday experiences. This forward-thinking approach aims to open fresh perspectives, offering both joy and stimulation that enrich daily life and lead to a more fulfilling future.DESIGNART TOKYO 2024 served as a gateway to this new vision, encouraging visitors to believe in the potential of their own creativity and explore what lies beyond the 'ordinary.'

Highlights from EMERGE @ FIND 2024
In its third edition, EMERGE @ FIND promises a marketplace of the best in Southeast Asian contemporary design. The showcase features over 60 designers, with the addition of recent design graduates from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.Curated by Suzy Annetta of Design Anthology, designers from the region will present new works by reflecting on the theme, "These Precious Things". They were tasked to respond to questions like who decides what is valuable and why do we make more things despite overconsumption and the climate crisis.For the first time ever, you can purchase the products from EMERGE @ FIND online with us here, or visit the fair to view the items in person.

Southeast Asia's Emerging Talents: An Interview with Suzy Annetta
Southeast Asian design showcase, EMERGE @ FIND, is back this year at Marina Bay Sands from 26 to 28 September 2024. Returning curator Suzy Annetta, who is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Design Anthology, frames the showcase under the theme "These Precious Things", provoking the notion of the value of objects. For the first time, recent graduates from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam will be featured.The Artling speaks to Annetta about the emerging designers at the showcase and what to expect from these talents.

Designers to Check Out at Future Impact 2: Homecoming Showcase
The commissioned works of seven visionary Singaporean designers will be exhibited at Future Impact 2: Homecoming Showcase, held from 26 September to 17 November 2024 at the Asian Civilisations Museum as part of Singapore Design Week 2024.Participating designers Christian+Jade; David Lee; Faezah Shaharuddin; Gabriel Tan; Genevieve Ang and Clement Zheng with Interactive Materials Lab; Tiffany Loy and Zavier Wong demonstrate the power of design for a more sustainable future. Their pieces push creative boundaries to develop innovative designs that tackle global challenges, reduce environmental impact, and reinvent production methods.This exhibition, originally shown at Milan Design Week 2024 and curated by Tony Chambers and Maria Cristina Didero, will also feature some updated pieces.

Events to Catch during Singapore Gallery Month 2024
Singapore Gallery Month, previously known as Singapore Gallery Weekend, has been rebranded and transformed into a month-long celebration of visual art. Organized by The Art Galleries Association of Singapore (AGAS) and supported by the National Arts Council, this year's festival runs from September 1 - 29, bringing together over 99 artists in more than 30 galleries across Singapore.This year’s artist line-up is a vibrant mix of both local and international talents, featuring renowned artists such as Yayoi Kusama - whose works will be showcased at Ota Fine Arts in Gillman Barracks - Demos Chiang, Ruben Pang, Faris Heizer and more.

Highlights from Osaka Art & Design 2024: Resonance
Now in its second year, Osaka Art & Design (OAD) is a four-week event that invites people to explore various areas of Osaka while enjoying art and design exhibits throughout the city.The event's main area is the north-south avenue stretching from Umeda to Namba. Around 50 venues, including galleries and stores, will feature a diverse array of art and design from enthusiastic creators. Visitors can appreciate artworks, furniture, and fashion items as they tour these venues.This year's theme, "Expanding Resonance," aims to foster interaction among participants, encouraging unexpected synergy throughout vibrant Osaka.
