The Spaceless Gallery Presents "Expression d'Impressions"
ByThe Artling TeamBeauty from the Rain - Lara Porzak
The changes in colour and subtle texture on Pierre's convases are like ripples on water, they echo the metallic reflection of Lara's photographic plates.
From September 10th to November 28th 2020, The Spaceless Gallery will be presenting works by artists Lara Porzak and Pierre Bonnefille. The works by the two artists may employ different mediums but the viewers will witness how they may also complement one another. As Lara Porzak blurs the line between what you see and what she wants you to see; Pierre Bonnefille bends nature to his will as he projects his interpretaion of the image on an abstract plane. One can't help but notice how each of the two artists develop their works with a certain poetic approach.

Lara Porzak is a Los Angeles- based photographer who employs the use of ancient film-making methods. By doing so, she honours the pioneers of photography as she uses old techniques such as ferrotypes and gelatin silver lith prints. She is renowned for her use of labour-intensive and non-digital photographic methods.
"Her photojournalistic style combines with the romantic influences of European photographers from the 1930s and '40s to give her work a timeless quality with a strong sense of narrative." - The Los Angeles Times
Her ability to combine the use of age-old photographic processes along with the artisanal framing of the works is what gives her work a timeless factor with only memory serving as a cardinal point. Her style returns photography to it's original magentism.
Her work is a part of the Getty museum's California Artist's Collection, and is also part of many other private collections around the world.

Pierre Bonnefille is a French artist, painter and designer who has been rewarded the title of 'Maitre d'Art' by the French State. He is renowned for his unique and poetic approach. Pierre creates his own materials from a plethora of sources such as mineral powder, limestone, lava, marble, earth, from natural pigments and metallic powders. Materials, colours and light are 3 of the primary and inseparable elements of his work.
Pierre makes use of his background in design and his love for exploration, as he draws inspiration from the colours of nature and with architectural references from Venice, Pompeii and Kyoto. The use of such materials and techniques produces a three-dimensional effect in his pictorial compositions. Pierre begins his work by analysing the colorimetric structure of the eartch and the materials he collects in order to build a colour palette.
