Artist statement
In Thai, Rakk means ‘Root’. Roots are the origins and foundation of all things. In nature, roots do not only serve to stabilize the foundation of the trunk -- there is also the aesthetic appearance of the lines of roots, creating interlaced coherence. There is a sense of commitment that carries a fascinating charm.
To present the aesthetics of brass furniture art, Apiwat Chitapnya combines sculpture and furniture through his use of organic shapes. Both parts are linked together by the legs, like tree roots symbolizing the harmony to come.
