About the art
Artist statement
The JAMAKHAN Line cushion is inspired by Bhavani ‘Jamakkalams’, the colourful, graphic and often oversized floor-coverings used in homes and at weddings and public events in and around the region of Tamil Nadu in southern India. Our contemporary take on this original and iconic textile features grey and navy blue colour blocks and a slender horizontal terracotta stripe and is hand-woven out of high-grade Erode cotton and hand-dyed to create a softer fade-proof cushion.
