Ido Ferber

Born: 1989

Hometown: Karmey Yosef

Based in: Tokyo

I was born in a small town in the centre of Israel known by locals as the Israeli Toscana, filled with vines and olive groves. My father, an olive farmer and beekeeper and my mother is an educator. I was raised in nature and walked the fields of my childhood barefoot in search of lost ceramic fragments left behind by millennia of civilizations that worked the land before me. At the age of 15, I picked up ceramics as an escape from the mundane school system. At 22 I joined a small carpentry, at 24 I left to work as an apprentice blacksmith in an artisan metal shop. At the age of 25, I began studying industrial design at Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, Israel. At the age of 31 I received a scholarship from the Japanese government to pursue a research master degree in ceramic craft at the Tokyo University of the Arts in Tokyo, Japan.
