[Why name it Studio Gallery?]
We believe in facilitating an artist’s journey to create new work, so we named our space Studio Gallery to stress the significance of artists’ practice and process. The studio is where the intrinsic value of an artist’s imagination is manifested, the studio is where play develops into experimentation, the studio is where authenticity can rise above the conventional values of our society. At Studio Gallery, we support artists whose sincere efforts infuse the world with new meaning.
[Who are we?]
Studio Gallery was founded in 2016 on Yuyuan Lu, a road that carries a century of social and cultural history. It has since moved to the Former French Concession at Xingguo Lu. The gallery operates two interconnected spaces: the Xingguo Lu space focuses on young artist exhibition programs while the Jiangzhi Lu space concentrates on artist residency projects.

Studio Gallery’s infrastructure is intended to enliven the artist’s spirit and inspire the artist’s muse.The unbalanced environment of contemporary art in the context of globalization motivates us to embrace artists withuniqueworking perspectives. To thoroughly practice our mission, our publication “Artist Talk” newspaper is a concrete record of our gallery programs, artist interviews and art critiques in an attempt to encourage fruitful dialogues between serious artists, art lovers and institutions.
