Artist statement
This work is part of the DeCODance project, which reveals the idea of digitalization of living matter as a way to save endangered species on the planet, preserve existing ones and recreate lost ones. Since ancient times, we have known one of the oldest stories about Noah and his ark. It is woven into all the cultural codes of humanity – Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and even earlier – among the Sumerians. For centuries and to this day, the search has been conducted for traces of the ark's presence, evidence of its existence. With the advent of innovative systems based on natural data and bio-processing, the idea of digitalization of living matter arises. Any matter, including biological species, can be recreated using its digital code stored in the archive. Thus, the idea of creating a Noah's Ark becomes possible, when digital codes of living matter in all forms of its manifestation can be stored on micro-carriers and sow life everywhere, possibly beyond our galaxy.
