About the art
Artist statement
Store Lungegårdsvann is a bay connected to Puddefjorden, one of the branches of Byfjorden that creates the peninsula of Nordnes in Bergen (Norway). Lungegårdsvann means "large lung farm's water." But the name was related initially to the estate of a Danish nobleman called Vicens Lunge.
I took this picture on January 1st, 2020, during an afternoon-long walk. It was pretty cold, and the surface of the fjord was partially frozen. The sunny buildings and the blue sky reflected on the water caught enough of my attention.
