Artist statement
Some places have a soul, an extra spark. After meandering up the mountain road, leaving the dramatic valley of Rjukan below, the plateau unfolds with Gaustatoppen rising above.
I took this picture during the spring melt on a sunny evening at the border of Lake Kvitåvatn. I found the blueish reflections on the water and ice pretty interesting. The light brownish reflections came from the surrounding flora.
"Kvitåvatn lake during the spring melt" is part of GAUSTA IN SEASONS: an award-winning project that has documented this world-class mountain Norwegian destination from December 2019 to September 2020.
This picture has been awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2020 Tokyo International Foto Awards [TIFA].
