My paintings are about the potential of emptyness and at the same time about the wonder of our presence in this world, here and now, solid and bold as passing clouds.
Every picture could be the last one. It would be the end from which something else will inevitably originate.
Painting as a visual haiku, a remedy to the overwhelming flow of images we are sucked in, as if by a black hole. I wonder what will be left of this unfathomable quantity of bits of humankind memory.
I usually work in the studio and at home too, more than a physical space to working with painting practice is like entering an intimate space in which time changes perspective adapting its consistence according to the inner rythms.
What inspires you?
I live in a condition of constant aesthetic awerness, I can find the wonder even in a ventilation grill walking on a sidewalk. Pointing to an ideal image of fragile solemnity.
Describe your creative process.
Using minimal elements I see them forming some sort of "meta-images", images that point, all the rest which is not being represented there. Minimal elements could be repeated with micro gestures or crosshatches forming sign-structured fields; sometimes I use full filled color fields. At any rate, the artwork, through superimposed and juxtaposed processes in the making, becomes material and immaterial at the same time. At the end I think I am filling the pictorial field to make it empty, in a sort of "first-add-then-take-away” procedure.
