Artist statement
This is a triptych of 60 x 60cm per panel. It does not need framing and is ready to hang. A minimum wall length of 240cm is recommended for this piece of work.
Midnight Gold Star is a series I started in 2016. Dark blue that reminds one of midnight, sprinkled with gold dust, the series invites one to look to the stars, they possess the energy of works that can only come from painting at night.
I'm a nocturnal painter and work best in the quiet of the night. As James Turrell says, "I've often felt that night doesn't fall. Night rises."
When painting on wood, I like to reveal the natural beauty of the surface I am painting on. The idea was to have 3 very differently shaped triangles, forming an entire square in one's mind.
