This painting does not need framing and is ready to hang.
Midnight Gold Star is a series I started in 2016. Dark blue that reminds one of midnight, sprinkled with gold dust, the series invites one to look to the stars, they possess the energy of works that can only come from painting at night.
I'm a nocturnal painter and work best in the quiet of the night. As James Turrell says, "I've often felt that night doesn't fall. Night rises."
When painting on wood, I like to reveal the natural beauty of the surface I am painting on. Employing stripes here also breaks up a painting that could otherwise look very dark and heavy.
