Artist statement
JASPER RED is what I call one of my "creatures". To me a "creature" is a spirit or an essence here to protect us. Jasper Red was created during quarantine in New York City. He is strength in adversity. He stands firmly and he is not shaken by unseen challenges. As you will see, his back has seen battles and he survived. He knows that no matter what happens, he will be ok.
His glaze shows the depth of blacks and here and there you will perceive tints of fiery reds, reminiscing of ancient Chinese sculptures.
