by Otto Turker
2023
Acrylic on linen applied with the artist’s hair comb, metal panel and wood.
Wall Sculpture; 55.5 x 70 x 7 cm.
In response to the recent discovery that Piet Mondrian’s artwork has been hanging upside down in the German museum for half a century, Studio Otto Turker launched a new geometric wall sculpture titled Split Mondrian No.2: ’Institutional Rotation’. Otto conveys the essence of chaos in his artwork to highlight the complexity of contemporary culture. Through deconstruction-reconstruction process, Otto juxtaposes order and balance of Mondrian’s artwork with the notions of chaos and disorder.
