Chaos Lounge by Justin Lim radiates the energy of a warm summer day in your garden. In this painting, the artist explores the changes in the paradigm of landscape art over the centuries. The artist looks to China on the landscape painting genre that uses the Shan Shui philosophy. Shan Shui predicates that painting is not merely an open window for the viewer’s eye but rather an object for the mind. The genre of landscape painting presents works that provoke the human mind with shadows and silhouettes of landscapes allowing viewers an opportunity to see past preconceived notions of nature and creating an understanding of the atmosphere, mood, spirit, and the simplest of pictorial means.
Peacock Mantis Shrimp by Danny Giesbers incorporates the 21st-century developments of abstract painting, thriving to aesthetically achieve a futuristic and digital image through analogue. The artist’s self-developed technique and process are partially algorithmic and partially intuitive. Giesbers works with chance but attempts to guide his works by the choice of materials and thorough execution of his meditative application of each layer. His emotional state and level of focus play an important part in the final result.
Robert Pereira Hind is a mixed media artist who creates luxurious tranquil pieces. Spring Arboetum is part of the artist’s mixed-media series ‘Out of Eden’, a striking yet minimal series of beautifully decorative photographic prints onto gilded backgrounds on wood. Part of the piece is the wood’s ability to slowly oxidize and mature in appearance as time passes. The golden background of this piece will take on the light in any space and bring an atmospheric and characterful glow that creates a warm feeling.
Fold 33 by Steven Edwards is part of a series of ceramic sculptures that explore the boundaries of material and the characteristics of form. It has been developed from an ongoing interest of applying fixed processes of making by pushing the limits of clay to reveal tension and movement in both surface and form. It is created from thrown parian porcelain spheres, deliberately distorted and compressed to follow the specific steps of the making process: Repetition, Compression, Fold and Cut.
The Harvest by Van Lanigh is created using many layers of colorful oil paint to create a vibrant piece that stands out in any space it occupies. The piece is part of the artist’s ‘Chasing Rainbows’ series exploring the perception of feelings. No one feels one emotion at a time but instead experiences and waterfall of feelings with undertones of different sensations. The rainbow of feelings the artist interprets in her works is her running away from reality to another imaginary universe of impressions.
Spring in Our Step by Claire Denarie-Soffietti accurately depicts the feeling of the warmer weather and the dawn of spring. The painting exudes healing feelings and captures the essence of spring. Denarie-Soffietti is a French artist based in South Africa where she creates great art that are exhibited internationally.
Curiosity by Zeljka Paic is part of the ‘Frame’ series, a series re-examining the relationship between the artwork frame and subject matter. The frame has a different role in this series as supposed to its intended purpose. The frame symbolizes the boundaries– physical, emotional and social which are sometimes possible to overcome. The piece depicts the boundlessness of curiosity and the incredible places our curiosity can take us.
Recent Memories of Future Dreams by Ray Beldner is a collage work made from images of historic artworks that the artist salvages from books, auction catalogues, and magazines. The artist is drawn to their various colors and textures, which the artist then deconstructs to create wholly new forms and narratives. Beldner gathers the pieces into compositions that play with their complementary and contrasting attributes to make a piece that is bright, lyrical and visually confounding. The artist is fascinated by the tension between figuration and abstraction and how 2D forms can occupy, define and create space.
Reflecting From Above by Margaret Juul is part of a series of emotionally charged tropical coastal abstract paintings. The artist used saturated vibrant colors and powerful brush strokes to create a lasting visual impression. The art piece is reminiscent of a day at the beach, exuding warm and tranquil energy, and uplifting the space it is in.
La Gota Fría by Fanny Finkelman Szyller showcases the continued exploration of sculpture and material. The three-dimensional sculpture is full of transparency by the combination of various materials and objects that have been thrown away. Adding color to each piece is essential but in the aesthetic context that controls the final form. The artwork is a result of the precious exploration of small metal pieces intervened with different acids, finished with color pigments and gold dust.
Timeless 2 by Thosaporn Suthum is an abstract painting showing emotions and feelings that are harmonic and at times chaotic. The artwork is part of the series titled‘ PERCEPTION’ and is a result of repetition and occasional accidents. The 2 elements integrated together create a textural surface representing the artist’s emotional complexity. It draws a parallel line between idea vs reality and the expected vs the unexpected.
Great Happy Days by Ricky Wahyudi will add effervescent color and vibrant energy to your home. The painting captures the essence and feelings of reminiscing happy days, allowing the viewer to experience the good days again. The painting depicts the great days stored in the artist’s memory which are depicted in the deepest layers of the canvas. Every now and then the memory appears on the surface, as seen in the second layer of the canvas, the layer becomes the hope for a better tomorrow.
Underline – Overline by Vince Smith explores the level of thickness of the artist’s chosen material. In some cases, the ply bridges over pieces of ply and at other times the large thickness of ply works to create movement from the level plane. The piece consists of unique shapes and techniques as well as bright yet subtle colors, making it a great stand-alone piece of art to add to your wall.
