Artist statement
"Centrum" explores the theme of concentricity within the medium of a vessel. Constantly revolving a workpiece around a center defines the process of woodturning. This piece simultaneously highlights the process itself as an approach to artistic expression. The work draws the attention towards it´s center, as concentric grooves interfere with the materials inherent structure. The nearer to the center, the more the object condenses and draws into its very core.
