Artist statement
"Art rug “Golden Island”
Soft rug islands, oases of relaxation among the stone jungles of cities...
A collection of handmade rugs from New Zealand wool that is in tune with the Urban Ethno trend. Each rug is created by the original design of the artist.
Colors, lines, and images seem to radiate the eternal energy of the earth, water, sky, sun... Thanks to the manual tufting technique, expressive drawings have gained volume, while natural wool has even more softness and fluffiness, and the addition of viscose in some elements of the drawing makes the rug even more voluminous and expressive.
It will be not only a bright interior accent but also a favorite place for every family member to relax and unwind. The round shape of the rugs, as if around the hearth, allows you to focus on a small friendly company, make a romantic date, or sit comfortably with a glass of wine on rainy evenings. After all, a rug can provoke the sweet feeling of the «inner island» – if it is like ours...
The artist's vision transforms traditional Ukrainian symbols, flowers, and birds into a contemporary design as if the image is decomposed into jet pixels. The carefully selected warm ""impressionistic"" color palette further enhances the sense of comfort and coziness. This new, unobtrusive ethno-romantic style fits the contemporary interior perfectly.
As the carpet consists of nearly 100 colors, it concentrates all attention on itself. That is why the non-official name of this centerpiece is “carpet egoist”.
The art rugs designer Kristina Gaidamaka tells us: “The collection Islands was conceived as a dream to escape to your island, as a symbol of travel and home at the same time. Who knew that soon the collection's theses would become our new reality and that we would dream about travel in a new way, feel the colors, and live on our little islands. Cornflower blue, green, orange, lemon, lilac, peach, apple-red, pink, sun-yellow, orange, blue ... now these are not just fragments of fluffy pixels, but a mosaic of life of joyfulness necessary for us today's emotions”.
Materials: New Zealand wool, viscose
