Follow These Impressionist Artists If You Like Monet

Claude Monet is French painted best known for his leading role in the 19th-century Impressionist art movement and plein-air painting. Introduced to plein-air by Eugène Boudin, he quickly took to painting the transitory effects of sunlight by working quickly in the open air instead of in a studio. He consistently depicted nature, the landscape, and the environment around him, capturing the transient details of his subjects and powerfully painting the impression it had on his senses during those moments. Not only do Monet's picturesque landscapes capture the beauty of nature, but they also visually chart his travels around France and London. Among his many works, Monet's most iconic paintings are his 'Water Lilies', which he spent the last 30 years of his life creating in his home in Giverny. His mastery of colour, light, and form has made him an artist whose influence has stretched far beyond his time and artistic style.

Israeli artist Nikol Klampert works in a variety of mediums and materials. Born in Israel in 1989, Nikol studied drawing since he was five years old. Nikol promotes the idea of enjoying life, and the beauty it gives us through vibrant colours. Painting on anything he can put his brush on, the artist embraces life's positivity and tries to depict it through his paintings, whether on a wall or on a canvas.

Sujin Wattanawongchai

Sujin Wattanawongchai is a contemporary artist based in Bangkok, Thailand. His thought-provoking artworks are inspired by his reading, travelling, and current events. Sujin relies on his feeling, emotions, and imagination to create his abstract paintings. In 1993 he received his Bachelor's from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and in 1998, his M.F.A. in Fine Art from Fort Hays State University. He lived in New York from 1999 to 2003 and then returned to Bangkok to open his own studio.

Russian artist Diana Malivani paints with a focus on depicting the beauty of nature through bright and bold colours. Diana’s paintings reflect her soul and her love for music and nature. Through her vibrant flowers, impressionist landscapes, and abstract compositions, Diana strives to share these feelings with others, to share with others a part of her soul. For the artist, landscapes represent an inexhaustible source of inspiration. A principal goal of artists depicting landscapes is to convey the music of nature. Diana believes that landscapes created on canvas should awaken the soul of the viewer the desire not only to participate in the subject of the painting but also to hear the «music of the landscape.

Frank Suplie

Frank Suplie is a German artist born in 1950 who lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He belongs to the Norddeutsche Realisten movement, a group of contemporary artists who focus on plein-air painting. He has exhibited in many countries in Europe and the United States.

Liubou Sas

Belarusian artist Liubou Sas has been passionate about painting since she was a young child. When she was about 30 years old worked in the studio of the USSR artist A. Maley. She began to study with him individually and developed a keen interest in the styles of expressionism and impressionism. She is also inspired by nature and the wild animals that she encounters near her house on a lake. She uses soft delicate colours and brushstrokes to capture the natural beauty of the environment that surrounds her.

Marina Podgaevskaya

Marina Podgaevskaya graduated from the St. Petersburg Higher Art School in 1983 with a degree in interior design and graduated from the school of classical (Dutch) painting in 1998. Her style is predominantly abstract, and her paintings convey themes such as the human soul, time travel, and fragments of life. In her paintings, Marina tries to give the impression that something musical is happening. In 2020, Marina spent her autumn in Germany and often spent time walking in the woods. She is inspired by the forest and creates paintings that capture her time there. She used the bright colours of autumn, sunlight on the leaves, and delicate shades of dry herbs in her impressionist nature paintings.

Xiaoyang Galas

Xiaoyang Galas is a Chinese artist living and working in France. She studied Fine Art (Painting) and received a master’s degree in Chinese art history & art critic from the Sichuan Fine Art Academy, China. In her paintings, Xiaoyang seeks to bring the East and West together and her technique is often mixed and gives an impression of patching. She also uses her multilingual background, such as Chinese, French, and English characters, in her paintings.

Yaroslav Leonets

Ukrainian artist Yaroslav Leonets has always felt the need to convey his feelings in a nonverbal way. He spent a lot of time alone with his own thoughts and feelings and this eventually led him to discover that his love for painting and visual communication through artworks. To the artist, art is the way of subjective communication with one's surrounding world. Yaroslav uses various visual means to express his unique, impressionist, childlike feelings. He often experiments and looks for new ways to convey the reality in which he lives.

Sandy Dooley

Sandy Dooley lives and works in the Weald of Kent, South East England. She draws her inspiration from the landscapes of England and visually communicates them vibrantly in her paintings. The play of light and shadows and the in-the-moment experience of absorbing the world around her also inform her work. She also draws on her memories of a childhood spent outdoors, and the visual impact that still resonates with her. Sandy constantly attempts to use the interplay of colour and texture in my paintings to create a harmonious balance between the two elements. She enjoys working in an experimental way with different materials. She frequently throws and drips paint on the canvas to create bold expressive artworks. 

Valeria Privalikhina

Valeria Privalikhina was born in a small town in Siberia in a family of artists and dedicated most of her life to painting. To achieve the effortless style she possesses today, she has undergone a 9-year professional training including the rigorous 6-year program at the Repin Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St.Petersburg, Russia, from which she graduated in 2019 with a diploma project dedicated to Claude Monet. ​Despite being based on a very strong technical foundation, her style is very immediate and free. Valeria's work investigates the deeper meaning of beauty and speaks of the fragility of the modern world.
