The Artling and Straits Clan Launch The Creative Studio
The Artling and Straits Clan are pleased to present the launch of The Creative Studio, a four-month residency program at the member’s club in Bukit Pasoh. The inaugural residency program forms a part of the Straits Clan Arts Programme, which aims to develop the club’s cultural capital and as a venue that enables and encourages lively dialogue between its members and the creative community. The artists in the program are Aeropalmics (a.k.a Dawn Ang), Masuri Mazlan, Tiffany Loy, and André Wee.

INTO THE WOODS: Okuyamato Craft from Nara
'INTO THE WOODS' is back with their second edition and will be held at LUMINE Singapore from 15 January to 21 February. This year's exhibition is organised by The Nara Prefectural Government, Okuyamato Migration and Exchange Promotion Office.

S.E.A. Focus Curated: hyper-horizon
S.E.A. Focus will be presenting an 'hyper-horizon', an immersive, physical showcase in Tanjong Pagar Distripark from 22 - 31 January 2021. The show at features a curated selection of works as a seamless exhibition experience, unlike the typical art fair presentation with segregated booths. This unconventional presentation encourages collectors and audiences to explore and uncover fresh perspectives of Southeast Asian art in a manner that is both inviting and accessible.

dUCKS scéno on the Art of Scenography
dUCKS scéno is a multidisciplinary scenography agency founded by Michel Cova in 1991. They combine scenography with innovating thinking and technical culture with a great awareness of the context of the project and architecture. This week, The Artling had the opportunity to interview Isabelle Serré (Shanghai office supervisor, board member) of dUCKS scéno on the scenography industry, contemporary art and scenography in China, and their projects.

IMPART Collectors’ Show 2021: 'Leap of Faith'
Turning travel and border restrictions on its head, the 4th edition of the IMPART Collectors’ Show has gone virtual for the first time with a novel theme from 19 - 30 January 2021. Titled 'Leap of Faith', it showcases a class of collectors who go above and beyond in their collecting ethos and willingness to acquire works that require not only living with art, but shaping their places of living around art.

'A World Without Us' by Miranda Fengyuan Zhang at Capsule Shanghai
Capsule Shanghai will be presenting Miranda Fengyuan Zhang’s latest solo exhibition 'A World Without Us', which will run from 16 January to 27 February. The exhibition comprises her textile works made of cotton and wool, and a large-scale textile installation.

Gajah Gallery Presents: 'Heresy or Codswallop', A Solo Exhibition by Ashley Bickerton
On 20 January, Gajah Gallery will be presenting 'Heresy or Codswallop', which marks the second solo exhibition in Singapore for the internationally acclaimed artist, Ashley Bickerton. Presented in conjunction with Singapore Art Week 2021, 'Heresy or Codswallop' is one of Bickerton's most comprehensive surveys of his work to date that brings together the last decade of his practice.

The Culture Story Presents 'of Human Bondage' - a relationship with Nudes
The Culture Story has just opened the new year with their latest exhibition, 'of Human Bondage', featuring an extensive display from the Chong H.S. art collection. The exhibition will run from January to June 2021, with public viewings available on 12, 13, 15, and 16 January, and visits by appointment from February onwards.

Highlights from Our 2020 Shanghai Exhibitions
The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this year has posed a great challenge to countries and societies across the world. Our Shanghai private viewing space opened last year, and we were determined to not let the pandemic halt or slow down our work in supporting artists and galleries in the region. It became more important than ever for us to have fruitful and inspiring collaborations, so we worked with Chinese artists Juju Wang, Li Wenguang, and Simon Song to present solo exhibitions of their works, ranging from paintings, to photography to installation art.
