Nicoletta Bagatti was born in Parma, Italy, in 1968.
A self-taught artist, she has been able to express her thoughts and life through art since childhood.
She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Italy since 1999.
In 2004, she was chosen for a cultural exchange and in the summer of that year, she painted at the ART CENTER in Miami in the United States, working with artists from all over the world.
In 2009, his installation of the series '...A NUDO' was exhibited at the Lu.C.C.A. - Lucca Center Of Contemporary Art (Museum of Contemporary Art of Lucca).
Over the years, the artist's way of making art has changed a lot, but what has always remained constant is his modus operandi. He uses an ancient technique, that of oil painting, and takes care of every part of his works, starting with the construction of the support. She highlights the parts of the painting that she needs to express the message she wants and leaves others incomplete to give free interpretation to those who observe them.
The artist likes to work on themes, even very different ones, in which she puts all of herself in order to stimulate, without reserve, her imagination and that of the observer.
Through painting, she completely expresses herself, her inner world, her fears, her dreams.
I use the ancient oil colour technique, which I use by superimposing many thin layers of appropriately diluted colour to create what I want.I have experimented with this technique for many years, but my research is not yet finished. Only certain parts of the painting are defined and I leave the others incomplete, so that you yourself can integrate and complete the work with your imagination.
What inspires you?
small things inspire me, everyday life is full of things that have great evocative power, or are simply so beautiful that they deserve to be painted....
Describe your creative process.
I treat each part of my work starting from the support, if the surface is wood I apply a thin layer of chalk and glue; if the support is a canvas I proceed directly with the colour I have chosen for that project. Once I have a uniform surface, I start to draw the outline with chalk, but only when I have finished drawing, do I proceed with the oil colours. I use the oil colours by thinning them a lot, then I overlay many thin layers of colour to create the effects I want.
